The Chicken Suit Challenge – Jack Challenges Celticscast Host Chris Villani – Is He Ready?
by Jack - posted Friday, December 14th, 2007
I’m sick and tired of hearing Boston fans root for their Red Sox, their Patriots, and now their Celtics. The Knicks might be terrible, but let’s give the fans something to cheer for. So in an effort to keep things interesting, and shut up the loud mouth Boston fans, I challenge Chris Villani, Celticscast host and former Syracuse University classmate of mine to a “Chicken Suit” bet. If the New York Knicks come within 13 games of the Celtics in the standings when the dust clears at the end of the year, Chris has to wear a chicken suit (see photo) outside of Boston Garden chanting for the Knicks and handing out New York Knicks paraphernalia. However, if the Knicks come more than 13 games behind the Celtics in the standings, then I will wear a chicken suit outside of the World’s Most Famous Arena – Madison Square Garden.
Don’t worry, Carl already has the phone book out and we plan on calling costume stores to make sure we can find a chicken suit. I realize that this isn’t really an even bet. The Celtics are 18-2, the Knicks are in the basement of the league, but you know what… why not do it? Let’s keep things interesting. It’s about time us Knicks fans stand up and fight. And if that means challenging the “Johnny Come Lately” Celtics, then let’s do it.
What’s interesting is, I made the challenge to Celticscast about two days ago when I called their listener line. I haven’t heard a word from them. Not an email, a phone call, nothing. Maybe they’re “chicken” – no pun intended… or maybe they don’t have the guts to face the best fans in the world – New York fans. So I’m waiting to hear their response. Until then, IU want YOU the fans to call them up and tell them you want them to be man enough, step up to the plate, and accept my challenge. The Celticscast phone # is 617-934-0628. Give them a call – let’s put the pressure on. It’s game time baby!
On our next show, Carl and I will be calling costume stores around NYC on the air – we are going to find a chicken suit, if it’s the last thing we do!
